Product Description:

General information
Rifadin Capsules contain a medicine called rifampicin. It belongs to a group of medicines called anti-bacterials and works by killing the bacteria that caused infections. Rifadin is used for treating all forms of tuberculosis (TB). Rifadin is also used to treat patients who do not have meningitis but carry the meningitis bacteria in their nose and throat and may spread the bacteria to others.
Use Rifadin as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions. Take Rifadin by mouth on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating with a full glass of water. Do not take an antacid within 1 hour after you take Rifadin. To clear up your infection completely, take Rifadin for the full course of treatment. Keep taking it even if you feel better in a few days. Please separate doses by 8 to 12 hours if taking an oral aminosalicylic acid.
Rifadin may cause drowsiness or dizziness. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Rifadin with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it. Rifadin may produce a reddish coloration of your urine, sweat, saliva, and tears.Taking Rifadin may affect the results of some blood tests. In particular, tests for folate, vitamin B12 and liver function. If you are going to have a blood test, it is important to tell your doctor that you are taking Rifadin.
Do not use Rifadin if you are allergic to any ingredient in this or to any rifamycin (eg, rifabutin); if you are taking atazanavir, cabazitaxel, darunavir, delavirdine, dronedarone, etravirine, fosamprenavir, lurasidone, nifedipine, praziquantel, ranolazine, saquinavir, tipranavir, tyrosine kinase receptor inhibitor (eg, lapatinib), or voriconazole. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Rifadin if you have liver problems, you have any kidney problems, you have diabetes, you are under weight or malnourished, you have a rare blood problem called ‘porphyria’, if you are aged 65 years or older.
